My secret weapon for 2016I want to tell you about what I’m calling my secret weapon; my “2016 Life Planner”.  You will notice the word “life” is in there. This isn’t just about work although that is one of the main reasons I am doing this.

At the end of the day, my main goal is to work smarter and a whole lot less.  I guess you could say this is the start of a new way of doing business or the evolution of the “new me”.

Who Needs a Life Planner?

I have been looking for a better way to track my activities and see where I need to make changes or tweaks. At the end of 2016 I want to have a more complete record of my year. It’s also important to me to be able to see how well I’m meeting my goals both weekly and monthly.

Am I on track? Do I need to make any changes?  Have I actually figured out how to work less and get more done?

I love that I can also have a snapshot of any given period of time just by looking at my life planner.  At the end of the year when I do a “look back”, I hope to clearly see my hits and misses.

My Planner

Now it’s just not any planner.  It’s pretty.  It’s nice to look at, and I feel happy when I write in it (which is kind of the whole point).  You should want to write in it.

Don’t get me wrong; I love technology.  Actually I couldn’t live without my computer, my smart phone and a whole bunch of other devices.  But I have to admit I'm a “pen and paper girl at heart”.  For me there is something about the act of physically writing things down.

Am I Giving Up My Big Wall Calendar?

No way!  You know how I love my great big wall calendar.

I think that a wall calendar is one of the simplest and best tools for success on the planet.  When you are forced to look at your plan and the tasks that go along with your master plan day after day, your subconscious gets busy and helps you meet your goals.

I keep also my calendars year after year, but it's really hard to look back and do a detailed review of your year. You just don’t have all the information you need. This should be easier at the end of the year with my life planner.

I’m still getting used to writing in my life planner every day, but I hope that will become automatic in time.  Wish me luck!
