I just spent 3 days in Atlanta with Diane Conklin at her “Marketing Success Intensive” and some amazing entrepreneurs. And when I say that these folks and this entire experience were amazing, that is not an understatement. All of us were all there for exactly the same reason; to learn how to be “exceptional”.
Each and every one of us wanted to know not only what we needed to do to take our business to the next level, but what we had to do to stand out in our field or our particular “tribe”.
Part of learning to be exceptional is making the commitment to step outside of your comfort zone on a regular basis. You see, in many ways we are all basically the same. We all have fears; we all have things we would rather not do. But here’s the thing; this is exactly the place people get separated into two groups. Those that let their fears hold them back, and those that “feel the fear and do it anyway”.
As entrepreneurs, we are called to step out and take the plunge more than most people.
Do we always get it right on the first try? Absolutely not! But you have to be willing to start over and try again. I can tell you this with certainty; it does get easier each time you do it. Get in the habit of saying yes, and figure out the details later. Just say yes to all the opportunities that come your way.
Krizia Takes the Ultimate Leap of Faith
One of the amazing entrepreneurs I met at this event was a gal named Krizia who just might be better known as “Miss K” (since most of the time we can’t pronounce her name correctly). Krizia is a YouTube expert.
We had a presenter at this event named David Arsarnow that talked about many things one of which was fear. During his presentation he did a demonstration of fire eating. We have all seen this done many times. But did you ever seriously consider doing this?
I’m not sure how Krizia ended up staying behind when we took a break for lunch, but David asked her if she wanted to give it a try. I can tell you from talking with her after she did it, she was very afraid; so much so that she aborted her first try which you will see in the first video. But she gathered her courage and did it successfully the second time. We were all so proud of her!
The point is that when you get in the habit of saying “yes” first and figuring out the details second, your life will get so much bigger. Yes your business will flourish, but your life will flourish in ways you can’t imagine. You can be sure it will involve stepping outside your comfort zone, but it will be so worth it!
Krizia Does It…
You can see that she is holding onto her fear in her first attempt. But then, she gethers up her courage and begins again. Watch what happens:
