Caring for your life

Did you ever think about just what that word means? I’m sure it has a different meaning for all of us. Some of us have very detailed plans. Other folks say they have a plan but in reality, they just seem to fly by the seat of their pants most of the time.

Whatever your personal style of planning is, know that it is crucial to your success. We all know the importance of having a business plan. But what about the rest of your life? Do you have a plan for your fitness? What about your personal and spiritual life?  Will your plan help you reach your personal and professional goals?

After you have your plan, you need to fine tune it periodically or possibly even revise it and go in a totally different direction. All plans change and evolve overtime.  John Maxwell, one of my favorite mentors, has a definition of planning that I would like to share with you.

John Maxwell’s definition of planning.

  • P – Predetermine your course of action.
  • L – Lay out your goals.
  • A – Allow yourself time for adjustments as you will have to make them.
  • N – Notify your key personnel.

  • A – Allow time for acceptance, because a change in plans asks for that.
  • H – Head into action.
  • E – Expect problems; you will have them.
  • A – Always point to your successes as someone will point out your failures.
  • D – Daily review of your progress.

What are your plans?
