I read this excellent book again over the weekend, and it never ceases to amaze me how fast this world is moving; especially where business is concerned. The internet has removed so many barriers. It has forever changed the way we do business. Movements that used to take years to gain momentum, now happen with a speed we could have never imagined 20 years ago.
Seth describes a tribe as “Any group of people, large or small who are connected to one another, a leader and an idea”. Anyone can build a tribe. Most of us belong to more than one tribe; in fact belonging to a tribe is part of who we are. Look around you. Everyone belongs to tribes.
So what’s the missing piece?
What every tribe needs is a leader. So who are these leaders? They can be just about anyone with a vision that wants to make a difference. If you take a close look at these leaders, they come from all walks of life, all educational backgrounds, and most all socio-economic groups. The one thing they all have in common is they have a passion for something and they are committed to making a difference.
When you look around your little “piece of the world” who are the leaders of your tribes? Maybe it’s you. Or maybe it’s someone you aspire to be. At the end of the day, I believe that’s what we would all like to be remembered for … making a difference in this world.
If you haven’t read this book, I highly recommend you do so. It’s a quick, easy read from an exceptional author.
