My friends over at Jacob Grant Property Management recently put together a list of the “63 Best Real Estate Blogs for 2015. I was honored to be included in this list.
I can tell you first hand there are some pretty awesome bloggers on this list. I know many of them personally, and I wanted to share this information with you so you can check them out.
Why Should You Care?
It’s pretty simple; because there is so much information out there that is just plain garbage.
Anyone can put anything up on the internet. That doesn’t mean that it’s true or that you should follow every piece of advice that is handed out.
We all want to be the best we can be, however trying to figure out where to start your “learning journey” can be overwhelming especially for a new investor. This is a great list of some of the best real estate blogs around so be sure to save it so you can refer back to it over time.
As you build your investing business, it will change and evolve over time. The strategies that interest you today may be completely different than those you choose down the road.
My Story
My story is one that a lot of you know. I started out with what I thought was a solid plan to rehab 2 houses then take those profits and buy a rental; then rinse and repeat as they say. I planned to build a portfolio of rentals so that one day I could live happily off of passive income. And it was a good plan. I went along “working my plan” for a few years when I made some rather big changes to my business model.
Two things happened. First of all, one day I had to own the fact that I really hated being a landlord. I could not envision being in that position for a decade or more doing something that made me so unhappy. I knew it would take a long time to create wealth from rentals so I decided to get out of the landlord business. Even though I know a lot of folks that love being a landlord, I just didn’t want to do it. That business is after all a “get rich slowly” plan, and I knew there were other ways for me to earn passive income.
About that same time in 2008, rehabs were suddenly sitting on the market forever. Who wants to hold a newly renovated house for 9 months or a year? Not me. That was when I became an “accidental wholesaler” and the rest is history.
