Stop Procrastination Now! It’s the Silent Killer of Your Business

December 17, 2018 in Investing In Real Estate, Mindset

Procrastination

Today I want to talk about how to stop procrastination. I really believe it is the the silent killer of your business. We’re all guilty of procrastination at times, yet we all really wish we didn’t do it.

The question is, what can we do to break this cycle once and for all? I don’t believe there is a magic button when it comes to being able to stop procrastination, but there are some actionable steps we can take toward solving this problem.

There is also a great book about procrastination I can highly recommend. It's about how to stop procrastination and get it out of your life for good by creating new habits. The book is called “Eat That Frog” by Brian Tracy.  I have read this short book a couple of times before, and I admit that I like to read it again periodically.  I believe that ending procrastination is really an ongoing project for most people, so we all need a refresher course from time to time.

Why is Procrastination So Dangerous?

Overcoming Procrastination – The Silent Killer of Your Business – Podcast #93

March 27, 2017 in Investing In Real Estate, Podcasts

Let's Talk Real Estate Investing

Today's show is on overcoming procrastination; the silent killer of your business.

I read a great book a couple of years ago called “Eat That Frog” by Brian Tracy.  In this book Brian talks about overcoming procrastination.  He talks about getting that thing you dread the most off your plate the first thing in the morning each day. That is the whole principle behind “Eat That Frog”. Attacking you’re your most dreaded tasks and getting them over with at the beginning of the day.

End the Procrastination Now!

November 21, 2014 in Investing In Real Estate, Time Management

finish strong

Happy Friday!!

We are just about a week away from Thanksgiving and just over 5 weeks until the end of the year. Today I want to talk about finishing the year strong.  Let me ask you this; do you have a plan for these last few critical weeks of the year?

End the procrastination now!

If you don't have a written plan for these last weeks of the year, I can guarantee you they will slip away from you.  Now I'm not suggesting you don't enjoy the holidays, but having a well crafted plan for these final weeks of the year will actually give you MORE free time while you get those last critical tasks done this year.

I am hearing form a lot of folks have already pretty much “closed up shop” and have no plans for building their real estate investing business in the upcoming weeks. In fact, their plan is to take the rest of the year off which means they will  effectively close down their businesses until after the first of the year.  I can tell you that is a big mistake.

Procrastination, Delays and Second Thoughts

October 25, 2013 in Investing In Real Estate

Procrastination

Procrastination isn't always bad. Putting something off for a few days or in some cases a few weeks has worked to my advantage a number of times over the years. In some cases even a short “timeout” lets us see something we would have missed if we continued rushing toward our goal. It gives us time to find clarity in a particular situation.

Chronic Procrastination

If you find yourself a chronic procrastinator you need to ask yourself why.

  • Why are you always doing that?
  • Have you settled into a pattern of procrastination?
  • Maybe you have gotten just a little bit lazy when it comes to some things so you just put them off.

If you are always putting off the same thing time and time again, that may be a sign that you need to “call it off”. Maybe that goal no longer serves you, or it is a task you should just simply outsource.

If this sounds like you, it's important that get to the root of the problem. Here's a post for you; Procrastination the Thief or Time, Accomplishment and Dreams.

Can Procrastination Ever Be Good?

I believe that it can. If your gut is telling you to slow down, take another look or just “think about this for a while” you should probably listen.

What’s Wrong With Me? I Just Can’t Seem To Get Started.

September 11, 2013 in Getting Started, Investing In Real Estate

Getting Started

This post is going to be short today, because this topic is really easy to cover. It’s sometimes hard to implement, but the solution to the problem is an easy one to figure out.

Here’s the million dollar question:  “What can I do to finally move past fear and procrastination and get started”?

Get Over Your Excuses and Throw Out the Mile Long To Do List

I have heard more excuses this week than I have heard in a long time from people that can’t seem to just get started in real estate investing.  They have to wait until the stars are “perfectly aligned” to begin. You know; reasons like these:

  • I haven’t decided on a logo
  • I need to decide whether or not to set up an LLC
  • I have to research what color postcard to use – yellow or green
  • I don’t have a good picture to use in my marketing
  • I can’t figure out whether to use white or colored envelopes for my mailing
  • I’m not sure what area to target for my buy and holds
  • I’ll get started as soon as I decide whether to just use my name or have company me
  •  I have another course I have to complete, and then I will be ready

I can probably list at least a dozen more of these reasons why folks say they just can’t seem to get started; reasons they just can’t take those first steps.   But if you will take a close look at the list you will notice that none of these things are essential for getting started in real estate investing.  They are details that can be figured out along the way.  The world won’t come crashing down because the color of your envelope is wrong.  Not having a logo will have absolutely no impact on your business.

Everything Is Figureoutable

One thing I have learned in the past few years that has served me well is Read the rest of this entry →

A Life Changing Habit; The Hour Of Power

May 7, 2013 in Investing In Real Estate

The Hour of power

I have found that creating habits and rituals in your life can actually be life changing.  The “Hour of Power” is one of those life changing habits.

Jack Canfield has written a number of books which include the “Chicken Soup For the Soul Series”.  Jack has a routine that he does each day that he calls the “Hour of Power” which is designed  to keep every area of his life in the best shape possible.

So what exactly is this “Hour of Power” and what does this have to do with real estate investing?

You can read the rest of this post here….

After you have finished reading this post, be sure to pick up your FREE copy of another one of my favorite books “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill.
