Happy Saturday everyone. I wanted to share with you a new service called Dropbox that I just found out about. Best of all, it’s free. Dropbox allows you to sync all of your computers (laptop, pc etc) so that you can access your files from any mobile device or any computer anywhere. How cool is that!
I am a big fan of Maren Kate and her “Escaping the 9 to5 Blog”. If you haven’t come across her blog yet be sure to check it out. I promise that you will love it. Maren did a post recently on “downsizing and simplifying” her life which I think is a great idea. I have been doing some soul searching myself, and I have come to the conclusion that I too am going to try to simplify my life. We all have too much “stuff”. All of this stuff can become one big distraction in life. One of the things I remember most about her article was that she wanted to have the freedom to jump in her car, take a trip, and be able to work from anywhere. It was all about freedom. About not being tied down by “stuff”.
I just heard about Dropbox from my good friend Mike Butler and fellow real estate investor. It is a free service that will allow you to sync all of your computers so that you have access to any file on any computer that you have installed Dropbox on. Your files can also be accessed from any mobile device through the Dropbox website. If you are into sharing photos with family members, you can also use this free service to do that. As an added bonus, the website provides automatic backups to their servers. If you need more than 2G of free storage that is provided, you can upgrade for under $10.00 a month.
If you’ve ever traveled out of town to give a presentation or host some type of a meeting only to discover that you are missing an important file, you never have to be concerned with this again with Dropbox. For all of the folks using VA’s, this service is a great way to share documents. I have signed up for a free account and I’m going to give it a try. Check it out for your self at http://www.dropbox.com.
Strange, I never got the email response from this….sorry for the delay. To answer your question, yes I’ve used Dropbox multiple times! Fantastic tool.
Hi Shae – Have you already tried Dropbox?
And… I love, love, love Maren Kate!
Dropbox rocks! Or…as Maren Kate would say “Dropbox rocks socks!” LOL!
